Me & My Shadow

After a visit to the Trinity Church Cemetery in upper Manhattan, I crossed the abandoned railway to walk south along the Hudson River.

Riverside Park at 155th Street offers unobstructed views of the George Washington Bridge.

These women stopped for a snack.

The foundation of Riverbank State Park rests on a sewage treatment plant.

Holding your nose sometimes improves the expansive views up and down the river.

 Monkey see, monkey do.

Other than some young women playing soccer, few people took advantage of the immaculate athletic fields on a late Thursday afternoon.  There's a huge, indoor pool, too.

The West Harlem Piers, just south of the park at 135th Street, have been entirely refurbished.  There's even a wi-fi hot spot.

This fellow found three crabs in his traps.  "You should see how full they get in July and August," he said.  When I graduated from college in 1975, pollution fouled the Hudson River.

The Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument signaled the left turn home.
