Titanic Moment

Christine nabbed a pair of tickets on Groupon for a late afternoon tour on the Kyalami. Scuba divers charter the boat in the mornings.

A hungry pelican greeted us at the dock with the Jupiter Lighthouse in the background. Completed in 1860, it rises up from the junction of Jupiter Inlet and the Indian River.

Ospreys build their large nests very high.

Intracoastal boat trips in Florida thrive on house porn and celebrities.  The man who built this extravagance insisted it have only one bedroom to discourage overnight guests.  Don't expect generosity from the One Percent.

Unremarkable until you learn this estate belongs to Ralph Lauren.  The low key rich and famous value the relative isolation and privacy afforded by Jupiter Island.  Like Fire Island, it's just a strip of sand.

You can't see Tiger Woods's hideout, only his "dinghy."  That is, if you believe the tour guide rather than the internet.

A threatening thunder storm cut our trip short but not before we got a very brief glimpse of the property the late Burt Reynolds called home.

Every water voyage needs its Titanic moment on the boat's bow.  Or maybe it's a Howard Johnson- themed senior moment.

Afterward, we drove most of the length of Jupiter Island to the splendidly isolated Hobe Sound Beach.
