Winter Break

Christine invited me to ring in the New Year with her at her condo in Lake Worth. Christmas decorations seem at odds with 80 degree temperatures most days, but who's complaining?

 

The colorful and funky cottages in Lake Worth housed the construction workers who built the mansions in Palm Beach and the people who served their owners.  Many date from the 1920s.

Our friends Pat and Bill, who had been in town since Thanksgiving, suggested we check out the intricate Lego structures at the Mounts Botanical Garden in nearby West Palm Beach.

Before Lego, the gardens lured visitors with painted mailbox contests.

 

But for the first-time visitor, the flora don't need a handicap to compete with the plastic or the paint.

 

 

 

 

Mounts really is an altogether welcoming place.
