Pretty on the Inside

The Metropolitan Cathedral rises like an ugly concrete ant hill from Rio's Centro neighborhood.

It looks slightly more interesting reflected in the nearby skyscrapers.

And an exterior cross is striking.

The Roman Catholic Church built the honeycombed structure in the mid 60s.

Like a lot of unattractive people, it's pretty on the inside.  The stained glass windows reach up to a cross 200 feet above.   I'll take the 6:10 p.m. to heaven, please.

How's this for a hanging crucifix?
