Pines Thanksgiving

Patrick and Marty, recently returned from Hong Kong, revived a dormant tradition, dressing for Thanksgiving dinner in the Pines.

It started once upon a time, as a celebration of the season's end, when Mateje cooked her first turkey with a unique accessory and I don't mean the baster.  Patrick & Marty had adopted Grayson the previous spring, our only baby share in more than two decades of Pines houses.

My how time flies--Grayson is now on the cusp of adolescence while at least two of us are on a fast track to senility!

As usual, Thom brought more than the freshly-killed bird, which we bought at Will Miloski's Poultry Farm on the North Shore of Long Island after crossing he sound on a ferry from New London.

After trying on this house wig, I decided my drag days were behind me.  Like so many things!

Patrick metamorphosed several times, from preppy host.

To regal empress entertaining in her budoir.

To non-binary buccaneer.

Marty looked like a librarian with a double life as a street walker equipped with geolocation.

All the girls have aged pretty well, don't you think?  Steven was giving off Louis XIV vibes, which Randy captured perfectly.

Andrew purchased his frock at a Cherry Grove fire sale.  It fit perfectly.  That pilfered hydrangea brought out his make-up free cheeks perfectly.  No muss, no fuss, that's our Andrew!

Mateje remains the consummate good-time gal.

And a towering presence in these heels which she last wore to "The Donkey Show" in Boston with Joe.

If only George Hurrell had been around to capture her glamor!

Randy, the other drag-refusenik, fashioned the lovely centerpiece from (mostly) wildflowers.

Before dessert, Steven transformed himself from French royalty to Pines tramp. Look for him on the beach next summer.

He'll be sporting some tan line!

Patrick's pecan pie and apple tart were as tasty as they were photogenic.

Nobody bats their lashes quite like the incomparable Mateje.  She wore them a lot longer than her heels.
